About
About Us
Lakeside Corner is a small, independent collection of notes about backyard and park birdwatching in Canada. It exists to help people who are starting out recognize the birds they already see from a window, a balcony, or a neighbourhood park.
What this site covers
The focus is deliberately narrow: common, easily seen species and the practical skills used to identify them. The three guides cover field marks, seasonal patterns, and observation techniques. The aim is accuracy and usefulness rather than completeness; this is an introduction, not a full field guide.
How the notes are written
Content is written and reviewed by volunteer birdwatchers. Where a detail is uncertain or varies by region, the text says so rather than inventing a figure. Bird photographs are sourced from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licenses, with the species noted in each caption.
What this site is not
Lakeside Corner is independent and is not affiliated with the organizations referenced in its articles. It does not sell products or memberships, and it does not collect personal data beyond what is described in the Privacy Policy.
Contact
Questions, corrections, and species suggestions are welcome through the contact form on the home page, or by writing to editor@lakesidecorner.org. Corrections are reviewed by a volunteer editor and applied when verified.
